Welcome Dr. Kara to Sarkar Lab

Welcome Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Kara to Sarkar Lab! Hasan is a Visiting Postdoctoral fellow at University of Leeds for 1 year, funded by the TUBITAK 2019 (Science Fellowships) postdoc research program. Hasan is a full-time Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Necmettin Erbakan University, a state university in Turkey, where he teaches and carries out research and administrative activities. Dr. Kara completed his PhD from Ankara University, Institute of Science, Department of Food Engineering focusing on edible oil chemistry and food flavours. He did the experimental part of his master's thesis focusing on dairy chemistry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna. In addition, with the support of Turkish Higher Education Institution at USDA ARS (U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service) in the US, he completed project on electrospinning, microencapsulation and controlled release. During this 1 year visiting postdoctoral research at Leeds, he will be focusing on understanding "oleosomes" i.e. oil bodies extracted from oilseeds with respect to their structure and lubrication performance.
