3rd Annual CDT Molecules to Product Conference (12-13 Jul, 2023), Sowmya wins Runners-Up Poster Prize

Date
The 3rd Annual EPSRC CDT Molecules to Product Conference (12-13 Jul, 2023) was a PhD students-led conference held at Weetwood Hall, Leeds, UK mentored by Prof. Anwesha Sarkar (PI Sarkar Lab, Theme Lead, CDT Molecules to Product, Product Functionalization and Performance) along with another theme lead from School of Chemical and Process Engineering. The aim of this conference was to showcase the cutting-edge research done by the four PhD cohorts in the CDT in the entire value chain of molecules-to-product journey addressing real-life problems in various sectors such as food, pharma, agrochem, fine chemicals, energy, computation etc. and the conference was sponsored by various industrial partners incl. Infineum, Astrazeneca, Stirling Pharma, Syngenta and CCDC. The research presented by the PhD Cohorts ranged from development on novel in line characterization tools to understand catalysis, flow behavior, powder handling and crystallization, in situ scattering-imaging tools to designing of sustainable materials and biodegradability of particles, Pickering emulsification, demulsification, design of nanomaterials to various computational approaches for design of materials and process monitoring. The conference also included an academic-industry career panel discussion and external speakers.
Sowmya NarsipurPhD student (Cohort 4) from Sarkar Lab won the runners up Poster prize on her poster titled "Understanding the functional properties of microbial proteins". Huge congratulations to Sowmya.

Two PhD students in this CDT from Sarkar Lab presented the following talks and posters in this conference:

Amna Khatun (Cohort 1 PhD Student) presented a talk tilted "Biodegradability assessment of engineered model polymeric microparticles"
Gloria Hernandez (Cohort 4 PhD Student) presented a flash presentation and a poster titled "Understanding demulisfication in Pickering emulsions".
