Sarkar Lab well-represented in Leeds Industry day

Leeds Industry Day, the flagship biennial showcase event was hosted at Cloth Hall Court on 12th June 2026. The theme of this year's industry day was "Co-creating Future of Food, covering how that future is digital, how it offers new choices, how it can be sustainable, and how it will be genuinely different, through talks and panel discussions from Mondelez, myfood24,
ASDA, MicroLub, NAPIC, MicroMimetics and the Bezos Earth Fund, alongside leading researchers from across the School of Food Science and Nutrition. Sarkar Lab was well-represented at the Leeds Industry Day with 2 talks, 1 panel talk and numerous poster presentations on colloidal ingredient solution, data science, colloidal stability and tribological outcomes.

Dr. Tom Bailey (Research and Innovation Fellow, National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC)) gave a talk on his recently patented work on "Plant flour microgels: Next generation clean label emulsifiers"

Dr. Laksminarasimhan Sridharan (Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow, EPSRC Horizon Europe Guarantee Fund) gave a talk on his recently patented work on "Physics-embedded AI tool for screening plant protein emulsifiers"

Dr. Megan Holdstock (former PhD Student, now at MicroLub Ltd, Spin Out company from Sarkar Lab) joined the panel talk as a panellist bringing her knowledge on ingredient solutions.
