Both Gloria and Sowmya are PhD students, part of the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Molecules to Product, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and based at the School of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Leeds. Cristhian is a visiting PhD student for a year at the University of Leeds, funded by FAPESP, Brazil.

Gloria has done BSc in Biotechnology Engineering from Mexico and MSc in Food Quality and Innovation from University of Leeds, UK. Gloria's PhD will be on understanding the fundamentals of emulsification and demulsification of Pickering Emulsions and and she is co-supervised by Prof. Brent S. Murray (School of Food Science and Nutrition) and Dr. David Harbottle (School of Chemical Engineering).

Sowmya has done BSc in Life Sciences from India and MSc in Applied Biomolecular Technology from University of Nottingham, UK. She has worked as a project manager in Indian Institute of Science and various other scientific roles in India. Sowmya's PhD focuses on understanding techno-functional performance of sustainable single-cell proteins and she is co-supervised by Dr. Célia Ferreira (School of Food Science and Nutrition) and Dr. Reem El-Gendy (School of Dentistry).

Cristhian did his BS degree in Food Engineering from UTFPR-CM, Brazil, MS degree in Food Engineering from University of Campinas, Brazil and MS degree in Food Quality and Safety from Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal. Cristhian is currently a PhD student at University of Campinas, Brazil and currently visiting Leeds for a year for an internship funded by FASEPS at Sarkar Lab to improve lubrication performance of phenolic compounds by applying novel colloidal approaches.
